What Is PT?

Also called physiotherapy, physical therapy is a branch of medicine that uses physical exercises and devices to restore physical function and movement.

When you hear the word “physical therapy,” you might think of someone going to the gym to work out after an injury. While this is one type of PT, there are many other forms that can be used to treat a variety of conditions.

The therapy can be used to treat both acute (short-term) and chronic (long-term) conditions. It can be used to relieve pain, improve range of motion, increase strength, and prevent further injuries. PTs use a variety of techniques, including heat, cold, electrical stimulation, exercises, and massage. They also use assistive devices such as canes, walkers, and crutches.

Rutzie Meta, our licensed PT, can create a custom treatment plan to help reduce your pain and improve your function.”

Conditions That Can Be Treated With PT

Arthritis: This is a condition in which the joints become inflamed. Physical therapy can help reduce inflammation and pain while improving range of motion.

Back pain: As one of the most common reasons people seek out physical therapy, back pain can be addressed by our therapist who can help stretch and strengthen the muscles in the back to ease pain and improve function.

Injuries: Whether you’ve suffered a sprain, strain, or fracture, PT can help you heal by reducing swelling and pain while increasing range of motion and strength.
